These Lucky Charms Cereal Milk Donuts are deliciously soft, moist and have both Lucky Charms cereal milk in the batter and in the frosting! Hello childhood brunch goals!
You guys. I went there. I made CEREAL MILK donuts. If you’re not aware, cereal milk has been pretty trendy for a while now. From cereal milk cake, lattes, milkshakes, pancakes…the list goes on. So why not add donuts to that list?!
I can picture myself now, waking up before my family did, going to get the biggest bowl my little hands could reach, filling it up with cereal waaay more than the recommended serving size and then doubling the milk. Turning on the TV, finding my favorite cartoons or re-runs of Full House and going to town!
Because, seriously, wasn’t the best part of eating cereal as a child (and adult hehe) when you made it to the end of the bowl and you got to slurp up the milk?!
I loved allll the different types of cereal milk, from Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Cocoa Puffs and of course…
In the spirit for St. Patrick’s Day, for this specific recipe, I used one of my favorite childhood cereals: Lucky Charms! I’ve always loved the extra sugary marshmallows! They are magically delicious after all! 😉
Why These Cereal Milk Donuts Are Magically Delicious!
And that’s exactly what these donuts are! They’re so soft, melt in your mouth and moist!
They almost have a vanilla cake flavor and they’re amazingly sweet. I love topping them with the cereal milk glaze along with actual cereal pieces on top for an added texture/extra crunch!
Did I mention they’re insanely easy to make?!
Are you curious how to make them yet?! Let’s get to it!
Ingredients You Need:
- All purpose flour
- Cereal milk (milk infused with lucky charms cereal)
- Brown sugar
- Baking powder + baking soda
- Salt
- Egg
- Melted butter
- Vinegar
- Vanilla extract
- Lucky charms cereal or sprinkles for topping
- Powdered sugar
How to Make Lucky Charms Cereal Milk Donuts:
First, let’s start by making the cereal milk itself. You do this by making a big bowl of cereal and doubling the milk, because the milk will soak into the cereal as time goes on).
I used about 1.5 cups of cereal and around 2 cups of milk. Let this sit for about 30-45 minutes.
Once the cereal is done soaking, remove it from the milk. Set the milk aside for now. It should look something like this, if you’re curious:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Generously grease the donut pan and set this aside for now.
In a large bowl, mix together the dry ingredients like flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
In another small bowl, melt the salted butter. Let it cool for 1-2 minutes and then add in the cereal milk, egg, vanilla extract, vinegar and whisk together until combined.
Using a wooden spoon, gently mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until they are mixed together.
Next, put the donut batter into a ziploc bag and cut the tip of the bag off. Carefully squeeze a generous amount of the batter into each donut hole of your donut pan until they are filled about 2/3 of the way full.
Bake for about 10-11 minutes or until a toothpick comes out fully clean when you test it!
Let them cool in the donut pan for about 5-10 minutes! Once cool, remove the donut from the pan onto a cooling rack.
Quickly whip up the glaze by combining the leftover cereal milk and powdered sugar until your desired consistency.
Dip the donuts into the glaze or drizzle the glaze on top – your call! And finally, top with Lucky Charms cereal and/or colorful sprinkles!
These are just wonderful and I hope that with everything going on today in the world, they brighten your day a little bit. Xo – Haylie

Lucky Charms Cereal Milk Donuts
These Lucky Charms Cereal Milk Donuts are deliciously soft, moist and have both Lucky Charms cereal milk in the batter and in the frosting! Hello childhood brunch goals!
Ingredients
Donuts
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1/4 cup light brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup cereal milk
- 1/4 cup (4 tbsp) melted salted butter
- 2 tsp vinegar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- additional lucky charms or sprinkles for garnish
Cereal Milk
- 1.5 cups lucky charms cereal
- 2 cups whole milk
Cereal Milk Glaze
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2-3 tbsp cereal milk (or more if needed, depending on desired consistency)
Instructions
-
Begin by making the cereal milk! Make a bowl of cereal combining the milk and lucky charms. Place a bowl onto the cereal to press it down, making sure it soaks into the milk. Let this sit for about 30 minutes. Strain the cereal out when done and set the cereal milk aside.
-
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease the donut pan and set it aside.
-
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
-
Melt the butter in a smaller bowl. Let it cool for 1-2 minutes and then add in the cereal milk, egg, vanilla extract, vinegar and whisk until combined.
-
Using a wooden spoon, gently mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until they are mixed together.
-
Next, carefully spoon the donut batter either into a ziploc bag or a piping bag if you have one. If you're using a ziploc bag, cut the tip of the bag and pipe the batter into the greased donut pan, about ⅔ of the way full for each donut.
-
Bake for 10-11 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool in pan for 5-10 minutes and then carefully remove them to continue cooling on a wire rack.
-
Whip up the cereal milk glaze by combining the powdered sugar and 1-2 tbsp of cereal milk. If you like a thinner glaze, you want to add a bit more cereal milk. If you like it thicker, add a bit less.
-
Once the donuts are done cooling, you can either dip them into the glaze or drizzle the glaze on top. Garnish with more lucky charms cereal or sprinkles! Enjoy!
Recipe Notes
If you have leftover cereal milk, I used mine in oatmeal or you can just feel free to drink it alongside the donut!
This would be a great opportunity to use up stale cereal! 🙂
Yep, cereal milk has gotta be one of the best things ever! And these donuts? How freakin’ fun, Haylie! I wouldn’t know whether to eat ’em or stare at them all day. Um, who am I kiddin’??! Of course I’m gonna eat ’em 😉 Delish, my friend! Have a wonderful weekend! XO
Thanks so much, Dawn! They are SUPER fun! It was hard not to eat the whole bowl of Lucky Charms when I was trying to make the cereal milk lol..
