Chopped Turkey Burger Salad with Thousand Island Dressing

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb turkey burger

Turkey Burger Seasoning

  • 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Salad Ingredients

  • 2 heads romaine lettuce
  • 1 red onion, chopped finely
  • 2 roma tomatoes, chopped finely
  • 2 dill pickles, chopped finely
  • 1/3 cup shredded colby jack cheese

Homemade Thousand Island Dressing

  • 3 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 2 tsp pickle juice
  • 1 clove finely minced garlic
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 2 dashes of hot sauce
  • 2 tsp ketchup
  • 1/2 tsp apple cider vinegar

Instructions

  1. Begin by adding your turkey burger to a non stick skillet on medium heat with a little bit of olive oil. Separate it with your spatula into large chunks so it cooks evenly. Add in the seasonings for your turkey burger and make sure they are mixed in well. Cook for 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally until completely brown. 

  2. While your turkey is cooking, finely chop your romaine lettuce. Place it in a large bowl. Finely chop your red onion, pickles and roma tomatoes. Place them all in the bowl as well. By now, your turkey burger should be fully cooked. Place it into the salad bowl. 

  3. As you let that sit for a moment, begin making your dressing. Combine the mayonnaise, pickle juice, apple cider vinegar, ketchup and spices together in a small bowl. Add a splash of water if it needs to be thinned out. 

  4. Pour the dressing directly onto the salad. Toss it with tongs. Add a crack of salt and pepper. Eat immediately! Also tastes great cold the next day!
