  • 2 oz fresh squeezed blood orange juice (about 2 small blood oranges squeezed)
  • 1 and 1/2 oz white rum
  • 1 oz simple syrup
  • 8-10 fresh mint leaves
  • 1/2 fresh lime, squeezed
  • 1-2 oz club soda to top it off
  • fresh mint and blood orange slices to garnish

Instructions

  1. Begin by making the simple syrup by combining 1 cup sugar to 1 cup water in a small pot on medium heat. Stir together until the sugar has dissolved into the water reduce the heat and then let it cool down. You can also buy store bought :)

  2. To a cocktail shaker, muddle the 8-10 mint leaves (about a small bunch). Let that sit. Juice the blood oranges and add the fresh blood orange juice to the mint, followed by the rum, the simple syrup and the fresh lime. Stir together using a cocktail spoon.

  3. Shake it all up and then strain through the cocktail shaker into your favorite glass. Add ice and then top with club soda. Garnish with blood orange slices and fresh mint. Taste and add more sweetener if needed. Enjoy!

Recipe Notes

You don't have to strain out the mint if you don't want to :) It's up to you!
