Chicken Souvlaki Pitas with Tzatziki Sauce

Chicken Souvlaki Marinade

  • 1 lb chicken breast
  • 4 cloves minced garlic
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp oregano
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • juice of one lemon

Pita Toppings

  • 2 pieces pita bread
  • 1/4 red onion, sliced
  • 1/4 cup feta cheese
  • 1 roma tomato, diced
  • 2 tbsp tzatziki sauce
  • 1/2 cup mixed greens
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • fresh dill for garnish (optional)


For the Chicken Souvlaki

  1. Cut your chicken into hearty chunks for the skewers. Combine with the marinade ingredients. Let it marinate for at least 4 hours. While the chicken is marinating, soak your skewers for at least an hour to prevent burning. Place 5-6 pieces of chicken on each skewer. 

  2. Preheat your oven to 450 degrees. Foil your baking sheet. Place your chicken on the baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes, flipping halfway through. 

For the Pitas

  1. Spread tzatziki sauce on the pita bread. Add your greens, onions, feta cheese, and chicken. Add salt and pepper to taste as well as fresh dill or an additional squeeze of lemon!Enjoy!

Recipe Notes

I have also tested this recipe by only marinating the chicken for 1 hour and it turned out very tasty. However, if you want EXTRA flavor, the longer the marinade, the better!
