This Sweet and Salty Halloween Snack Mix is the perfect treat to whip up for the holiday! Loaded with lots of different candies, salty peanuts, pretzels, popcorn….it’s the perfect blend of sweet + salty and YUMMY!
Happy spooky season, friends! Ben and I love Halloween – okay, well, to be honest, we love the fun “spooky” little kid movie vibes of Halloween.
We can pass on the ultra scary movies or haunted houses or anything of the kind. As a person with a very vivid imagination, I like to sleep and not be scared in my own house, thank you very much!
Why You’ll Love this Treat:
Whether we love super scary things or just fun spooky things, one thing I think we can all agree on is that we love CANDY. Halloween candy specifically just tastes SO good.
I think it’s something about the fun, seasonal colors, the oranges, bright lime, purple…so much happiness and joy in candy!
This snack mix is SO fun. It’s loaded with the perfect balance of both sweet and savory foods. The colors are vibrant, the mixture has a ton of different textures from crunchy to chewy..it’s the perfect blend.
I also, of course, loved putting it in a fun pumpkin dish! It makes it even more festive.
Another thing that’s great about this mix? It’s super versatile. If you don’t like *any* of the candy I chose to put in here (looking at you candy corn haters)…you can mix it up and add all of your favorite candy and salty snacks!
If you’re like Ben and I, I feel like we have *never* had trick or treaters. So this is the perfect treat to whip up on Halloween night to ease your pain of not being able to give out candy. Instead, we get to eat our own candy! YES. #adulthood
Let’s get into what I used to make this yummy mix.
Ingredients You Need:
- Candy Corn + Pumpkins
- Reese’s Pieces
- Seasonal M+M’s
- Kettle Corn
- Salted peanuts
- Pretzels
- Chex cereal (I mixed mine with cinnamon and butter for an extra treat, but this is optional)
Best Tips to Make this Halloween Snack Mix:
Begin by grabbing what you will be putting the snack mix in. Like I said above, I really love this huge pumpkin I got from Target, but any large dish will work!
Grab all of the candy/salty snacks you will be using and open them up.
I knew I wanted to use cinnamon chex for this mix to add a little bit of *spice*..but I couldn’t find it anywhere!
So, me being me, I ended up adding the chex to a bowl, adding some melted butter and cinnamon and making my own. Even though it’s an added step, I highly recommend it! It really added a great spice to the mixture.
And no worries if you don’t want to do that – you can just use normal chex or if you can find the cinnamon chex, use that!
And well, there aren’t many tips I can give you about this..it’s pretty straightforward.
Add in all of the ingredients to the large dish. Depending on how many people you will be serving, you can adjust how much of each you put in there
And then mix it up! If you feel like there might be too much candy, add a few more pretzels and vice versa.
From there, you’re ready to dig in! Grab a spoon and dish yourself out if you want some self control. If not and you may be like me…I just couldn’t stop myself from eating it!
Other add-in ideas:
- Skittles for a sweet non-chocolate option
- Muddy-buddy chex mix
- Mini peanut butter cups (leave them in the wrapper to prevent them from getting too melty/messy
- Fun seasonal candies like chocolate eyeballs, skulls etc.
- Cheez-it’s (or any cheese crackers) for a yummy cheesy add
Enjoy this fun and spooky treat, my friends!
