Step over, instant oatmeal packs! These Strawberries and Cream Overnight Oats are extra creamy, loaded with nutrients and sweetened naturally with strawberries!
This post was originally published in May 2019 – I’ve since given it new photos!
Strawberry season is officially upon us, y’all!
Meaning every time I go into the produce section of the grocery store and get even remotely close to the strawberry display, you can smell their sweetness immediately! No candle can ever imitate the smell of fresh, ripe strawberries! #justsaying
Unfamiliar with Overnight Oats?
So, if you’re unfamiliar with overnight oats, you basically add oats, non-dairy milk and some form of sweetener of fruit in a mason jar. Mix it all together and set it in the fridge overnight (or honestly even just a couple of hours) and it all melds together beautifully.
The trend of overnight oats is still very strong in my house! Why wouldn’t I prep my breakfast at night when I’m actually not a zombie and can function? And I can sleep an extra half hour?! It’s a win win all around!
But really – I think the main reason that I love these strawberries and cream oats is because they remind me of a more wholesome version of those packets of instant oatmeal that I used to eat as a kid!
Y’all remember, right? They had the fruit and cream packs? You may remember last year when I did another version of this recipe with Peaches and Cream Overnight Oats. Those were SUCH a hit, I knew this year I wanted to do my other favorite flavor of instant oatmeal that I used to love in a more “wholesome” form.
Just know that if you’re not the biggest fan of cold oatmeal, I understand! And instead, you can make them, let them sit in the fridge overnight and warm them up for 1-2 minutes. They should still retain their creaminess!
Why You’re Going to Love These Overnight Oats
These Strawberries and Cream Overnight Oats are SO super delicious. They’re perfectly creamy even without the addition of heavy cream on top – which I still add every time because I love dairy so much 😉
But really, I love the intense natural sweetness of the strawberries that melds with the creaminess of the milk/cream mixture. They go so perfectly together and the sharp almost tartness of the cream balances out the sweetness of the berries.
Combined together, they’re lusciously creamy, sticky sweet and so refreshing!
Ingredients you need:
- ripe strawberries
- old fashioned rolled oats
- your favorite non-dairy milk of choice (I used unsweetened vanilla almond milk)
- heavy cream
- chia seeds (for extra nutrients – optional)
- sweetener like honey or maple syrup (optional)
Best Tips For Making These Oats:
Making these overnight oats is insanely simple! Let me give you some tips on what works best for me!
I usually use 12 oz. mason jars but feel free to use whatever jar or tupperware that has a sturdy lid on it!
To the jar, add in the dry oats. Then the chopped strawberries, followed by the milk of your choice. Add the lid and shake it up – making sure everything is combined.
And boom – that’s it. You’re done! Go have a cup of tea, take a warm shower and get ready for bed!
Brrrrring! When the alarm goes off after a good night’s rest, they’re ready to eat!
When it’s time to eat it, add some more chopped strawberries! The more the better while in season!
If you like your oats sweeter, just stir in your preferred sweetener! I recommend maple syrup or honey for this recipe! Taste and adjust to your preference.
You can also add some chia seeds if you desire a bit more protein/fiber!
ANDDDDD, if you want REEEAL creamy oats, add a tbsp or so of heavy cream on top! Enjoy in the mason jar on the go OR in a bowl. Whatever works for you!
Hope you guys are enjoying strawberry season and also these oats!

Ingredients
- 3/4 cup old fashioned rolled oats
- 1 cup non-dairy milk (I used unsweetened vanilla almond)
- 3-4 medium strawberries, chopped
- 1 tbsp heavy cream (optional but highly recommended)
- 1 tsp chia seeds (optional)
- 1 tbsp maple syrup (optional)
Instructions
-
To a small mason jar or similar tupperware container, add the oats, chopped strawberries and top it with the non-dairy milk. Stir with a spoon, put a lid on it and shake it for good measure to make sure it's all combined.
-
Let it sit in the fridge for at least 3-4 hours or overnight to make sure it all combines and the oats soak up a lot of the milk.
-
Once ready to eat, add more chopped strawberries and a tbsp of heavy cream. You may add chia seeds for extra nutrients or maple syrup as an added sweetener but both are optional. Enjoy in the mason jar on the go or in a bowl!
Recipe Notes
To make these vegan: omit the heavy cream.
To make these GF: use gluten free oats.
Lol…I’m quite aware of those strawberry ‘you pick’ farms. Too funny that you eat as you go…that’s pretty much mandatory, isn’t it 😉 ? These overnight oats are a million times better than any packet stuff you can buy. I’d even eat this for lunch today! Pile on those yummy berries!!
Thanks, Dawn! And LOL! Totally an unspoken rule that you must eat your weight in the berries as you pick them. Thanks, my friend! Hope you have an awesome weekend <3
Strawberry picking! So fun!! We took the boys peach picking last summer and it was awesome. These oats also look awesome!! So creamy and delicious!
I would absolutely love to go peach picking! I think when it’s ripe and in season, peaches are my favorite fruit! YUM!
Oh lucky! I wish we had strawberry farms in the Caribbean. I tried growing them too… It didn’t work out – apparently strawberries aren’t fond of the heat. Frozen for me! Great recipe too.
Oh wow! Thankful that you have frozen strawberries though! 🙂 Thanks for the compliment, Ros!
Haylie, this looks so yummy!!!
Thanks so much! 🙂
