Do you guys love kabobs as much as I do?! To me, it’s hard pressed to find something so quintessential as grilled kabobs. First, you have that unmistakable grilled flavor – not to mention the unmistakable grilled smell on your clothes and hair haha! Next, you have the extra juicy, super tender grilled meat accompanied by your favorite veggies. You get your vegetables, your protein – you can put it on a bed of rice for grains OR you can just drink a beer for your carb intake LOL! It’s Summer right?! But really, I have always loved kabobs!
I especially love these Spicy Grilled Chicken Kabobs! I used this Sylvia’s Soul Food brand Chicken Rub seasoning as well as their Triple X hot sauce! Yes – extra spicy! LOL! I loved it! The spicy chicken was the perfect compliment to the crunchy veggies. The vegetables really act as a wonderful way to tame down the spiciness of the chicken.
One of the things I love about these Spicy Grilled Chicken Kabobs is the fact that you can make them as spicy or as mild as you want! For example, my husband sometimes makes the joke that he wants his food so spicy that he wants to cry! For me on the other hand, I’m good with a medium amount of spice.
Either way – you can absolutely bet on these Spicy Grilled Chicken Kabobs being juicy, garlicky, tangy, and downright delicious! Let’s get into how to make these!
Ingredients You Need for Spicy Grilled Chicken Kabobs:
- chicken breast
- red, yellow, orange and green bell peppers
- red and yellow onion
- olive oil
- kabob skewers
- Sylvia’s Soul Food Chicken Rub Seasoning (or similar)
- Sylvia’s Hot Sauce (or similar)
- butter
- garlic powder, salt and pepper
How to Make Spicy Grilled Chicken Kabobs:
Slice your chicken breast into large chunks that are all equal size! This will ensure that they all cook evenly. To a large bowl, add the diced chicken. Add 3 tbsp olive oil, 3 tbsp chicken rub seasoning (which is a spice blend mix of garlic, paprika, oregano, basil salt etc.), about 2 tbsp of hot sauce and juice of ½ of a large lemon. Mix to combine and let this sit in the refrigerator to marinate for at least 30 minutes! This will make sure all of the juices and spices get absorbed!
While the chicken is marinating, slice and dice the bell peppers and onions to similar sizes that you did the chicken. Make sure they are all evenly sized as well. Set these aside.
Once the chicken is done marinating, assemble the kabobs! I used these amazing metal skewers I got at Target for cheap! Highly recommend metal skewers for this recipe. Begin placing the ingredients onto the skewer, alternating between veggie and chicken pieces until they are all full.
Heat up the grill until it’s hot and ready to go. Place the kabobs directly on the grill. Grill on each side for 5-6 minutes or until the meat is fully cooked through. Remove from grill carefully and set onto a plate.
In a small bowl, melt 2 tbsp of butter. Once melted, add some garlic powder, salt, pepper and more hot sauce!!! Mix to combine and baste the kabobs. This will give them that extra spicy kick! Eat immediately and enjoy!!
Happy Summer grilling out season! Xo!
