This Roasted Strawberry Toast with Balsamic Glaze is the BEST toast! Jammy sweet roasted strawberries on top of crunchy bread with a tangy glaze..you can’t ask for much more!
Strawberry season is rapidly coming to an end! And while I’m very much looking forward to all things Fall, I want to soak up every last pint of strawberries that I can.
Hence this recipe! It’s perfection on toast and I can’t wait to share it with you!
Quick note – I actually based this recipe off of a roasted strawberry balsamic focaccia bread I got at bakery while on vacation.. the flavors were perfect! And while as a new mom, I don’t have time to make homemade focaccia…I figured this was the next best thing!
Why You’ll Love This Recipe:
- The star of the show is obviously the strawberries. And while you could 100% just use fresh strawberries on toast…roasting them brings out a completely different flavor profile! They are ultra sweet, jammy and melt in your mouth!
- Any recipe that involves perfectly roast crunchy bread..count me in. Carbs are my BFF and this one showcases fresh artisanal bread!
- While I love everything sweet, the tanginess of the balsamic glaze is the perfect contrast to the sweetness of the strawberries!
- The fresh basil on top adds a savory, earthy and herbaceous element! It’s delightful!
- Each bite is just pure perfection..I know you’ll love it!
Ingredients You Need:
- Fresh strawberries
- Crunchy bakery style artisanal bread
- Balsamic glaze (store bought or homemade)
- Basil
- Butter
- Turbinado sugar
How to Make Toast in 5 Simple Steps:
Preheat oven and put parchment paper on a sheet pan.
Add strawberries to the sheet pan and toss them with a couple tablespoons of turbinado sugar. Roast them.
Once the strawberries are done, toast your bread. Add butter, followed by the roasted strawberries.
Top with a generous drizzle of balsamic glaze and chopped basil.
Eat right away and enjoy!
Expert Toast Making Tips:
The layer of melted butter on the toast is completely optional but I think it adds such great flavor!
I recommend using salted butter for a little bit of saltiness!
The fresher the bread, the better! I love going to Lidl and picking up a loaf in their bakery.
You can use frozen strawberries if you’d like! They might just be more watery on the pan.
If you want to make your own balsamic glaze – here is the recipe I used! It’s super simple.
And as always with toast…eat it will it’s warm! Stale toast isn’t the name of the game here. Crisp, crunchy, warm strawberries…yup, that’s it.
Storing Roasted Strawberries/Other Ways to Use Them:
This makes enough strawberries for a few pieces of toast – if you have leftovers, just store them in a jar in the fridge!
I used mine in a bowl of oatmeal the next day!
You could also throw them on a salad or just warm them up and add them to toast the next day.
I hope you enjoy this delicious recipe! If you did, check out other strawberry recipes below!
