Anyone else a peanut butter pie fan over here?! *raises both hands* I have a Peanut Butter Smores Pie recipe on my blog – but I gotta say, nothing comes close to classic peanut butter pie! Specifically, my Mom’s peanut butter pie!

I always loved during the Summers and on holidays when she would make her ultimate creamy and smooth dessert. It was always so decadently rich, you could barely finish one piece of it! I knew that I wanted to make a simpler, easier version of her awesome recipe. And thus, these Peanut Butter Pie Parfaits were born!

Why You’ll Love these Parfaits

I absolutely love that these are made with super simple, pantry ingredients and that they come together in like, less than 10 minutes! The base of these parfaits is a peanut butter pie filling. It’s honestly more like a mousse – it’s whipped, creamy, smooth and thick. With this, I add in homemade whipped cream and other mix ins to create the parfait!

However, I will have to admit (especially if my Mom is reading this) that I omitted one key ingredient for my Mom’s classic pie and that is: cool whip. There isn’t any cool whip in this recipe because I wanted to try out my own style! So, instead of cool whip, I mixed both heavy cream and milk in the peanut butter mousse to make it absolutely delicious!

It results in just a lusciously smooth decadent peanut butter mousse. Thankfully it’s balanced out by the homemade whipped cream. For my whipped cream, I don’t add any additional sugar so it really helps balance out the rich dessert!

I love adding in crunchy graham crackers..they add a delightful texture and remind you of the classic graham cracker pie crust!

Lastly – hi they’re individually portioned which is SO nice and cute and fun. Especially in this crazy world we live in, lol!

So let’s get into how you make them/what you need.

Ingredients You Need:

  • Creamy peanut butter
  • Softened cream cheese
  • Powdered sugar
  • Heavy cream
  • Whole milk
  • Crushed graham crackers

How to Make Peanut Butter Pie Parfaits:

To start, in a bowl, add your favorite creamy peanut butter along with softened cream cheese and powdered sugar. Using a mixer (or stand mixer!) beat these together until combined and smooth. To this, add equal parts both milk and heavy cream.

You can use either all milk or all heavy cream – I wanted to do a combination of the two to balance the richness of the cream. Mix in the milk and cream until it’s smooth and has that peanut butter mousse texture that we are looking for! It should look something like this:

Place this in the fridge while you make homemade whipped cream.

In another bowl, whip about ½ of a pint of heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Add 2 or so tbsp of sugar and mix gently. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed – but I tend to like homemade whipped cream less sweet than store-bought.

Once you have the peanut butter pie filling and the homemade whipped cream – you’re free to create your parfaits however you want!

It’s THAT simple.

As for the toppings, crush up some graham cracker pieces, chop some peanuts, melt some chocolate …whatever you’d like! Make sure to try to melt some chocolate and add to the peanut butter mousse for a chocolate peanut butter pie variety – SO good!

Peanut Butter Pie Parfaits Mix Ins and Toppings:

  • homemade whipped cream (MUST HAVE!)
  • graham crackers (to replace the delicious graham cracker crust!)
  • chopped peanuts (for a delicious nutty flavor)
  • chocolate chips or melted chocolate (because PB + chocolate = heaven)
  • crushed oreos (a crunchy cookie goes awesome with the smooth mousse texture!)
  • peanut butter cups (yesssss please!)
  • chocolate nut butter (i love the nuttzo nut butter chocolate fuel!)

My personal favorite variety had to be a layer of peanut butter pie mousse, homemade whipped cream and crushed graham crackers! It had the perfect texture and I loved how the graham crackers reminded me of the classic graham cracker crust that Peanut Butter Pie is normally made with. So…let’s get into how to make this super easy dessert!
