Okay. So you guys. Would I sound like a 5 year old if I told you that pizza is my favorite food? Ha! I definitely will risk sounding like one to profess my love for pizza.

But really, my love for pizza goes deep. It goes all the way back to my elementary school days. One of my favorite school lunches was the pizza – it came in this large rectangle shape and they served it with a vegetable like corn or peas. I skipped the veg and scarfed down the pizza like my life depended on it. Oh, and then there were the weeknights that my Mom would buy those Chef Boyardee pizza packs and we got to make our OWN pizza! Those were the days.

Since then, I have tried many a pizza. In fact, my husband and I have deemed every Friday night “Pizza Movie Night” aka we order Dominos and watch a movie and split a bottle of wine. Lately, our pizza combination we have been loving is Salami, Banana Pepper and Feta. It’s wonderful and it’s our favorite night of the week, to say the least.

Why I Love this Peach BBQ Chicken Pizza:

The pizza that has been on repeat in our house for a couple weeks now is this Peach BBQ Chicken Pizza! Oh my GOSH, you guys. I know it sounds a little crazy BUT this pizza is amazing. It has a perfect base of homemade BBQ sauce that’s smoky with a hint of sweetness. Topped with mounds of fresh thick sliced mozzarella cheese and topped with shredded BBQ chicken, spicy red onion and hello fresh peaches! Yes, peaches. They add a juicy, sweet element. Similar to pineapple BUT much more subdued in my opinion.

It takes literally 20 minutes to bake once you assemble and boom! You have a golden, crispy beautiful pizza ready to devour.

So let’s get started! This is what you’ll need for that homemade BBQ sauce.

Ingredient You Need for Peach BBQ Chicken Pizza:

  • homemade barbecue sauce (get the full recipe down below!)
  • fresh peaches
  • red onion
  • pre-package pizza crust (can also make your own)
  • mozzarella cheese
  • fresh herbs for garnish!

How to make Peach BBQ Chicken Pizza:

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Mix together your ingredients for the homemade BBQ sauce (which consists of low sugar ketchup, worcestershire  sauce, apple cider vinegar, and some spices). All you do is mix that in a large bowl and you have the base for your pizza!

ingredients for Peach BBQ Chicken Pizza

Drizzle olive oil, salt and pepper over a large chicken breast. Bake your chicken at 400 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until done. Or, if you wanna make your life super easy – just get a rotisserie chicken!

Once the chicken is done, shred it and toss it in a few tablespoons of that mouthwatering BBQ sauce.

Thinly slice the peaches and dice your red onion.

Spread the BBQ sauce like you would marinara right onto the pizza crust – don’t be shy! Add on some delicious cheese, the chicken, and then the peaches and diced red onion! If you wanna go crazy, add some more cheese on top. Bake until bubbly and golden and cheesy and YES.

The peaches are not at all overwhelming – they only add a subtle sweetness and juiciness. The flavors of the BBQ sauce really coincide well with the peaches.

Best herb to top this pizza with? I sprinkled some fresh cilantro on top at the end to give it an extra pop of color and flavor. I also added a little bit of basil!

Best sauce to dip this pizza in? RANCH. Forever and ever amen. Try out my homemade ranch recipe – I promise you’ll never go back to the bottled stuff!

Is this pizza reheat-able? Absolutely! My favorite pro-tip when it comes to reheating pizza is to place the oven on broil. Watch the pizza for 3-4 minutes closely to ensure that it doesn’t burn. You should get a perfectly melty fresh tasting slice of pizza.

That is, if you have any leftovers. Ha! Enjoy. Xo.

A great post that seems to require quiet time on the sofa. Much food for thought here and it makes me think about choices I have made for my blog. I confess that I notice the difference in quality of blog posts when I am stretched for time compared to when I have lots of head space to mull over posts – but I still want to write and to post recipes that interest me. You’re definitely not alone in professing your love for pizza! And I love the sweet and savoury combo you’ve got going on here! I made pita pizzas a few times last week, and added some peach slices, and it tasted really good. Love that you paired peaches with chicken on this one. A must try for sure!
