This Homemade Ranch Dressing is made with a base of only 2 ingredients and a ton of fresh herbs and spices! It’s the creamiest, easiest dressing that you will want to put on everything!
Okay y’all. This blog post has been a long time coming to say the least! I’ve posted different varieties of this recipe on several different blog posts like my Cauliflower Crust Pizza, my Baked Garlic Herb Fries, and most recently my Loaded Tuna Pasta Salad! Ranch dressing is my JAM. Seriously, if possible, I make this and dip EVERYTHING in it and douse it in everything. From french fries, pizza, salads..the list could go on.
The Origin of my Love for Ranch Dressing
Now, is this a Southern thing? Y’all let me know in the comments. I do know that growing up, there was always one (or several) varieties of bottled ranch in the fridge. However, I never started to make my own ranch dressing until I met Ben!
It’s actually a pretty sweet story. We had only been dating a couple of months and I had just started my senior year of college and moved into my very first apartment. At the time, we didn’t cook a lot. Like most newly dating couples do, we went out on dates and ate out all the time! However, this particular night, we wanted to make Easy Black Bean Burgers (oh yes!). We also ended up making these deliciously crispy baked fries. However, neither of us have ever been crazy ketchup lovers. So, Ben was like, let’s try our hand at making homemade ranch. We had mayo, we had milk and spices. So, we made a deliciously creamy makeshift ranch! And from then on…we haven’t bought bottled ranch since. Has our technique gotten much better? YES! So much so I had to make a blog post about it!
With this particular Homemade Ranch Dressing, it combines milk, mayo, fresh herbs and spices! It’s the perfect blend of creamy, luscious and tangy! It has amazing freshness from the herbs and all of the spices. I promise you’re going to want to put this on everything! So let’s get into how to make it!
Ingredients You Need:
- whole milk
- mayonnaise
- fresh herbs (parsley, dill)
- dried spices: garlic powder, salt, pepper, oregano, cayenne etc.
How To Make Homemade Ranch Dressing:
Aaaaand this is where it gets way super duper easy. How do you make Homemade Ranch Dressing you ask? Simple!
Plop the mayo in a bowl.
Add your spices and fresh herbs on top.
Add a dash or two of milk and begin mixing with a whisk!
You will absolutely begin to see what the consistency is – and if it’s too thick, slowly begin to add more milk!
Continue to whisk until you reach that perfect consistency you desire! For me, that’s about 1 cup of mayonnaise to about 4-5 tbsp of milk.
Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed (although I hope it will be perfect the way it is!)
Put it on every single thing you love in life. Salad, fries, burgers, pizza…the world is your ranch oyster!!
I’m so happy to finally have this as an official recipe on my site as I literally make it several times a week. Hope y’all love this as much as I do! XO.

Enjoy on pizza, burgers, fries, or a salad! Keeps in the fridge in a mason jar for 3-4 days.
I need to try this with some buffalo wings. It looks so creamy and rich and I cannot wait to try it. I remember when I made my own Alfredo Sauce for the first time I felt so accomplished, there’s nothing better than homemade dressing and sauces ?
Thank you, Luz! I bet it would be AMAZZZZZING with buffalo wings!!
I can’t eat a lot of mayo, but my husband loves it, and he loves ranch dressing! He would dip everything in it too! So I need to make this recipe for him! I have everything in my fridge and pantry right now, so it was meant to be! 😉
Yay!! That’s awesome! 🙂 I hope he loves it, Leanne! XO!
I always enjoy homemade dressings more than store bought Haylie. Can’t wait to try your recipe!
Thank you so much Mary Ann! 🙂
Delicious and so easy and customizable! I made it to use in the cauliflower buffalo dip and had a half cup left over for drizzling and veggies. People commented on how tasty it was! 🥰
Woohoo! So glad that you enjoyed it!! 🙂 I love that you had some leftover also!
