Easy Tzatziki Sauce

This Easy Tzatziki Sauce is tangy, fresh and delightful. Loaded with veggies, greek yogurt and lemon – it’s the perfect companion to grilled meats or fresh veggies!

As I have most likely discussed before, growing up, I was never an adventurous eater. I would stick with what I knew – which was mostly insanely unhealthy but amazingly delicious Southern food.

Times changed a bit when I was older and I finally went to my first Greek restaurant. And y’all, let me just tell you: my taste buds were BLOWN AWAY! I had never had a food that tasted more fresh, light and had more flavor. They used so many veggies, herbs, dressings, and spices in their foods!

One of my favorite things at the restaurant was this curiously delicious sauce. It was thick, creamy, and they gave it to you in huge quantities on the side – almost as if it was their version of salsa if you were at a Mexican restaurant. I ended up literally slathering it on every single item of food I had that night. Seriously. Pita bread, grilled chicken, greek salad, more pita bread…the list goes on.

Yup, that’s Tzatziki for you. It’s so diverse. You can pair it with anything and everything!

As always, let me give you a quick run down of what you’ll need for this sauce:

  • full fat plain Greek yogurt
  • fresh garlic
  • olive oil
  • fresh dill (aka the best smelling herb on this planet)
  • freshly grated cucumber
  • lemon juice
  • salt and pepper to taste

First of all, I love that these ingredients are many pantry or fridge staples, so if you forgot you had to go to your in-laws for a cookout and you have 5 minutes to make something – this is a TOTAL EASY PEASY WIN!

Okay, so after you round up all of those ingredients, all you do is mix them together in a bowl. Sound easy enough for you? Seriously, most of those items are pantry/fridge essentials!

This is going to be my go-to Summer dip. It’s cool, creamy and refreshing. Plus anything I can dip pita bread in, you know I’m all over it.

Easy Tzatziki Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 cup full fat greek yogurt
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 tsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp fresh dill
  • 1/2 cup grated cucumber (i kept the skin on, feel free to peel it)
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Mix all of your ingredients in a bowl. Serve with pita bread, on top of grilled meats or fresh vegetables. Lasts for 2-3 days in the fridge in a sealed container.
