This recipe was originally published in February 2019 – I’ve since updated the photos!
I highly believe that any type of sauce, cream, dip or salsa can elevate a meal to the next level. That’s why I love pairing so many of my meals with homemade ranch dressing, spicy mayo or my easy homemade salsa. There’s just a combination that is so undeniably delicious.
From the acidity, to the creaminess – it all works together. And boy, this Creamy Salsa Verde Guacamole is the BEST.
Why You’ll Love this Dip:
This is the type of salsa/dip/whatever you wanna call it where you just chop up all of your ingredients throw them in a blender to achieve full on creaminess and then immediately dip LOTS OF CHIPS IN IT!
I also seriously struggled on what to name this dip. Here were some contenders:
- 5 Minute Green Goddess Blender Salsa
- Green Goddess Jalapeno Dip
- Salsa Verde Green Goddess Guacamole
- Blender Salsa Verde Guacamole
Yeah…the list could really go on. I finally enlisted my husband (who always helps me choose between photos and titles) to help me out and land on Creamy Salsa Verde Guacamole.
So, here’s the low-down on this goodness guac.
It’s incredibly creamy! Seriously – like, you may want to drink it it’s so creamy and ultra smooth.
Depending on how fast you chop your veggies, it can be thrown together in like, 5 minutes.
It’s the PERFECT dip for all of your chip needs. It’s slightly spicy from the jalapeno, has a kick from the lime and the fresh cilantro, onion and garlic give it SUCH flavor throughout.
The balance of the spiciness from the salsa verde/jalapeno to the creaminess of the avocado make this such a delightful dip!
It’s perfect for dipping tortilla chips in. Or this morning I had it on scrambled eggs (life-changing!). Maybe you could drizzle it over tacos. Or you could spread it on a grilled chicken breast. The world is your oyster, my friends. Let me just tell you how to make it and you can be on your way!
Ingredients You Need for Creamy Salsa Verde Guacamole:
- yellow onion
- de-seeded jalapeno (unless you want it extra spicy like my husband, then you can keep it seeded)
- garlic cloves
- juice of ½ of a lime
- 2-3 small ripe avocados
- cilantro
- your favorite salsa verde (either homemade or jarred! I love the Trader Joe’s brand. Super delicious, clean ingredients and affordable at $1.99!)
- a big ol’ pinch of salt
Not so bad right? Okay!
How to Make Creamy Salsa Verde Guacamole:
This might be my shortest “how-to” section of all time. It’s very simple and easy!
Start with finely dicing ½ of a medium yellow onion. Next, mince 2 cloves of garlic. Finely chop about ¼ cup worth of cilantro. I always save my jalapeno for last because my skin is literally so sensitive that it burns my hands when I cut jalapenos! LOL. So, de-seed and dice the jalapeno – unless you’re feeling those extra spicy vibes.
To a blender (or food processor!), add the diced onion, garlic, jalapeno, cilantro and ½ of juice of a lime. Cut two avocados in half, remove the pit and then scoop the green part of the avocado out. Add those to the blender.
Lastly, add in ½ cup of your favorite homemade or jarred salsa verde. Add a big pinch of salt and blend it up until creamy and smooth!
DONE. Now go eat get a giant bag of salty tortilla chips and TREAT yourself!
