I’ve been eating a LOT of avocados lately, y’all. With a new baby here, I’ve been needing something quick, simple with a lot of healthy fat and nutrient dense! Avocados to the rescue!
And while I love avocado toast or guacamole, I have particularly been loving this Avocado Hummus!
It’s been so great to whip up a batch for the next few days and have it in the fridge ready to go whenever I get a spare moment from Baby Jack, LOL!
Why You’ll Love this Snack:
This Avocado Hummus goes well with everything – tacos, soft scrambled eggs, salads, fresh veggies..and the most important thing: salty tortilla chips. YES PLZ.
It’s ultra creamy and melts in your mouth when paired with a crunchy tortilla chip.
I love that you can add whatever you want to spice up the hummus – if you’re feeling crazy, you can even add in that delicious everything bagel seasoning! No judgment here, my friends!
Ingredients You Need:
- Avocado
- Tahini
- Chickpeas
- Jalapeno
- Lime
- Cilantro
- Garlic and Onion Powder
- Cayenne pepper (if desired)
- Salt
Best Hummus Making Tips:
This recipe is incredibly simple so there aren’t many tips that I can give you.
First, it’s helpful to have a high powered food processor! That will be essential for this recipe.
Next, you’ll need a very ripe avocado! This will help everything blend up better and for that avocado flavor to really shine through.
You can really add whatever you’d like to spice up the hummus.
For me, I add 1 jalapeno (de-seeded of course, ain’t nobody got time for that spiciness), the juice of one lime (the citrus feels from this ingredient really add to the overall taste!)
Lastly, you add in some cilantro. Are you one of those folks who have that genetic mutation where cilantro tastes like soap? If so, I’m so sorry. Anywho, you’re more than welcome to omit the cilantro if you’d like … BUT, it sure does make it extra yummy!
And of course, add in generous amounts of salt, garlic and onion powder to taste. I also add in some chili lime seasoning from Trader Joes! It gives it a zesty zip that leaves your taste buds tingling!
So, now on to the best part! All you do is throw it into a food processor and BLEND THAT BABY UP! Talk about easy, huh?
It’s so simple and delicious. If your hummus is having a hard time getting super creamy, feel free to add in some water to help thin it out while blending!
And then – I highly recommend you taste it and add more seasoning if needed! Then it’s time to eat. Grab your favorite bag of tortilla chips, turn on your favorite show and time to dig in!
Enjoy every bite my friends!
